School observations offer an important opportunity to see how a child is functioning "in the moment" in the classroom and gain a picture of his/her day-to-day experience. This can provide critical information about how successfully he/she is accessing educational instruction, relating to his/her peers, and functioning across the school day.
Initially trained as a school psychologist, Dr. Miles-Mason has particular expertise in evaluating educational programming and curriculum and determining what types of accommodations, supports, and interventions are need to help a child succeed. Observations are often conducted in coordination with neuropsychological evaluations to help determine appropriate educational services and placements. However, they can also be conducted separately depending upon the circumstances and referral concern. An in-depth consultation is always held prior to the observation to determine what aspects of the child's school day need to be observed.
